Acetal Plastic

Acetal copolymer is an engineering thermoplastic based on formaldehyde polymerization technology. Acetal copolymer has a very good balance of tensile properties, shear strength, stiffness, and toughness. It is a natural-bearing material with a very low coefficient of friction against metals and major abrasion resistance. Acetal sheets and acetal rods provide high strength and stiffness coupled with enhanced dimensional stability and ease of machining. As a semi-crystalline material, acetal is also characterized by a low coefficient of friction and good wear properties in wet and dry environments. Acetal copolymer has high strength, modulus, and resistance to impact and fatigue, and its lightweight design makes it a helpful metal replacement.

Delrin

Delrin, a high-performance acetal homopolymer developed by DuPont, is known for its exceptional strength, stiffness, and low friction. This engineering plastic offers excellent dimensional stability, high wear resistance, and superior machinability, making it ideal for precision parts requiring tight tolerances. Delrin is resistant to moisture, chemicals, and impact, allowing it to perform well in demanding environments. Its low coefficient of friction and self-lubricating properties make it a preferred choice for gears, bearings, bushings, rollers, and other high-load mechanical components. Widely used in automotive, aerospace, industrial, and consumer applications, Delrin provides a reliable, long-lasting solution where metal replacement or high-performance plastic is needed.

Nylon 6/6

Nylon 6/6 is a versatile engineering plastic known for its excellent mechanical strength, high stiffness, and outstanding wear resistance. It is one of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics due to its excellent combination of mechanical performance and cost. It has a high melting point, making it ideal for applications requiring thermal stability and durability. Nylon 6/6 is also lightweight, offers good chemical resistance, and performs well under load, making it a popular choice for gears, bearings, bushings, and structural components. Its low friction and self-lubricating properties enhance its performance in high-wear applications.

Nylon 6

Nylon 6 is a durable, lightweight engineering plastic with excellent impact resistance, toughness, and flexibility. Compared to Nylon 6/6, it absorbs more moisture, which provides greater ductility and better vibration damping but slightly lowers its strength and heat resistance. Nylon 6 is widely used in applications such as automotive components, industrial machinery, and textiles, offering a balance of strength, wear resistance, and processability for injection molding and extrusion.

UHMW Polyethylene

UHMW Polyethylene or UHMWPE, also known as high molecular weight polyethylene, is a high-performance plastic, machinable thermoplastic. It is widely used across many industries, including food and beverage, conveying, material handling, and packaging. UHMW Polyethylene is highly durable, cost-efficient, and versatile material with superior impact and chemical resistance. UHMW Polyethylene Plate is known for its high impact strength, resistance to corrosive chemicals, low moisture absorption, and abrasion resistance. Its toughness, extremely low coefficient of friction, and inherent lubricity make UHMWPE ideal for applications where high levels of friction are likely to arise.

HDPE

HDPE, or High-Density Polyethylene, is a thermoplastic polymer made from petroleum. It offers versatility and widespread use in food applications, including cutting boards, bottles, and tanks. It can be machined, thermoformed, and welded. HDPE delivers outstanding tensile strength, a large strength-to-density ratio, high impact resistance, and a high melting point. Hadco stocks smooth HDPE in natural and black, as well as marine-grade and cutting board varieties.

Polypropylene

Polypropylene, or PP, is a lightweight, durable thermoplastic known for its excellent chemical resistance, impact strength, and flexibility. It offers high resistance to moisture, acids, and solvents, making it ideal for use in chemical processing, packaging, and medical applications. PP also has a low density, good fatigue resistance, and excellent electrical insulation properties, allowing it to perform well in automotive, electrical, and industrial components. With its ease of fabrication, recyclability, and cost-effectiveness, polypropylene is widely used for storage containers, piping systems, laboratory equipment, and various consumer and industrial products requiring durability and resistance to harsh conditions.

ABS Machine Grade

ABS, or Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene, is an economical, easy-to-machine engineering plastic with impact resistance and dimensional stability. It also provides strong electrical insulation and thermal properties, making it ideal for thermoforming and welding. Common applications include automotive covers, electrical enclosures, and instrument panels. Hadco stocks black ABS plates from 3/8″ to 2.5″ and a variety of round bar diameters. Natural ABS and general-purpose grades with hair cell textures are available upon request.

Clear Polycarbonate

Clear polycarbonate provides optical clarity and impact resistance. It offers UV resistance, low moisture absorption, and high dielectric strength and is much lighter than glass, making it an ideal glass alternative. Polycarbonate is easy to machine and fabricate. It is commonly used in machine guards, windows, face shields, lenses, electrical insulators, and instrument components. Polycarbonate serves many industries, including aerospace, construction, signage, fluid handling, and electronics. Hadco stocks 48″ x 96″ sheets from 1/16″ to 1/2″ thick and offers machine-grade polycarbonate in thicker gauges upon request.

PVC Type 1 Gray

PVC Type 1 is a rigid, high-performance polyvinyl chloride known for its exceptional chemical resistance, durability, and low moisture absorption. This unplasticized form of PVC (UPVC) offers excellent strength, impact resistance, and flame retardancy, making it ideal for industrial and chemical processing applications. With superior resistance to acids, alkalis, and corrosive environments, PVC Type 1 is commonly used in tanks, piping systems, ductwork, and laboratory equipment. It is also easy to fabricate, weld, and machine, providing a reliable, cost-effective solution for applications requiring high durability and environmental resistance.

CPVC

CPVC, or Chlorinated Polyvinyl Chloride, provides excellent heat resistance, chemical stability, and durability. It withstands temperatures up to 200°F (93°C), making it suitable for hot water systems, chemical processing, and industrial piping applications. CPVC outperforms PVC Type 1 in applications requiring higher corrosion resistance. It resists acids, bases, and salts while providing excellent fire resistance with low flame spread. CPVC offers a lightweight, easy-to-fabricate solution for plumbing, HVAC systems, and other demanding environments.

PTFE

PTFE, or Polytetrafluoroethylene, supports medical, industrial, and high-tech applications due to its excellent thermal, electrical, mechanical, and chemical properties. PTFE offers control over pore size, permeability, water entry pressure, and thickness. Its inert nature prevents reactions with most chemicals, and it maintains performance in high-temperature environments. The electronics-semiconductor, oil & gas, and material handling and conveying industries commonly utilize PTFE. It offers weatherability, electrical insulation, high-temperature resistance, low friction, and non-adhesive properties.

PVDF
